A safety surface is a buffer surface installed under the facilities in playgrounds.
According to the guidelines of the Israeli Standards Institute, the standard safety surfaces are:
Rubber surface, synthetic grass combined with rubber surface, garden sesame, sea sand and live grass.
Today the most recommended safety surface is synthetic grass combined with rubber.

Material and color:
Warning surfaces are required to be made of a material that contrasts in tone and texture with the surrounding material.
Marking surfaces are made of rubber / polyurethane.
It is mandatory to install a warning marking surface in playgrounds with swing facilities.

Rubber surface for playgrounds:
A rubber surface is a thick and flexible safety surface that softens the children’s fall to the ground.
The surface is suitable for installation on a concrete or asphalt surface.
The rubber surface must be of the standard thickness approved by the Israeli Standards Institute.
Device requirements:
The rubber surface must be evenly cast and without gaps.
The rubber surface must be produced by a rubber manufacturer approved by the Israeli Standards Institute.
Molded rubber material description:
Bottom layer of rubber flakes grain size 2-4 mm.
Upper layer colored EPDM flakes and SBR grain size 2-4 mm.
Total layer thickness: 35, 50, 60, 70, 90 mm in colors: blue, green, yellow, red

Device requirements:
The sesame must be clean, washed and between 2-8 mm in size and without evidence.
Garden sesame must be 30-40 cm high according to the requirements of the Israeli Standards Institute.
The sesame must be from quarries that have been approved by the Standards Institute,
and suitable for use in playgrounds and kindergartens.

Device requirements:
The sea sand must be approved and tested by the Israeli Standards Institute.
The sand must be free of foreign objects.
The sand must be 30-40 cm high according to the requirements of the Israeli Standards Institute.

Each product has a different safety instruction.
The substrate/absorbing surface will be in accordance with the height of the fall and according to the instructions of the Standards Institute.
